Categories Dessert Ideas

It’s no surprise that pies are one of the most popular dessert options. From Grammy’s homemade apple pie to pumpkin pie from your favorite market, they are one of the original comfort foods.

Our interest in learning more about desserts had us wondering about the most popular pie flavors. While we had our ideas about what this list might include, a few of the results surprised us.

Our research methodology
We used a popular tool that estimates the number of searches people make for various keywords in Google. This analysis helps us understand which pie recipes are the “most wanted.”

We exported the list of pie data and sorted it by search volume.

We then filtered out the terms to only include the following variants of terms:

  • “xxx” pie
  • “xxx’ pies
  • “xxx” pie recipes
  • “xxx’ pie recipe
  • recipe for “xxx” pie

This allowed us to compare the pies equally based on those 5 terms. Many pies had other searches like “caramel apple pie” or “banana chocolate cream pie” which would be excluded from these numbers. The monthly average is an average of all searches over a 12 month period divided by 12. Some months may have higher search volume or lower.
